NORCO, CA, November 2022 - QCP Corp proudly unveiled its QCP Foosball Table in November at the American Society of Landscape Architects Expo in San Francisco, California. As the newest addition to QCP’s Gaming Collection, a line of stylish-yet-durable concrete gaming products, the Foosball Table is an heirloom-quality piece that can be enjoyed indoors or outdoors for decades to come.

Designed for the Great Room. Durable Enough for the Local Park.

According to QCP Corp CEO, Rick Crook, the Foosball Table project started with a custom request from a small park in Texas. The park, who had previously worked with QCP for outdoor concrete installations, approached Crook with an unexpected ask: They wanted an outdoor foosball table where park-goers and community members could gather for a friendly game.

Seeing an opportunity to deliver that and more, Crook enlisted veteran product designer John Cook to create a new foosball table for QCP’s Gaming Collection. The outcome? A masterfully designed product, offering commercial grade play, indoor-outdoor functionality, and a sleek, timeless look that will appeal to architects, interior designers, and homeowners alike.

Functionality First: “It has to play.”

Functionality was a key concern of the development process. “First of all, it has to play,” said designer John Cook about the initial challenge. Cook describes himself as a fan of foosball with warm memories of playing with coworkers every week for years, so he was excited by the project and had high standards for the result. QCP’s table needed to offer professional-level gameplay in all seasons and weather, while maintaining the classic features of foosball that we all know and love.

Plus, it needed to stand the test of time and repetitive use. Even though the table might host thousands of players over decades of games, the QCP team wanted to create a low-maintenance, durable product ready for high-traffic settings like public parks, recreation centers, corporate offices, and beyond.

Innovative All-Weather Design | This is where Cook’s lifelong passion for functional product design came into play. He created innovative systems for draining water away from the playing surface and through the ball return, so even after rainy days, no standing water will accrue. For serving the ball, open grooves replaced the chutes of traditional foosball tables. This prevents the accumulation of dirt or debris, while maintaining Cook’s minimalist, modern design.

Scoring | The scoring system is one of Cook’s favorite elements– You won’t find any sliding plastic numbers that fade and break here. Each end of the table has ten smooth, circular divots where players can place a coin, extra foosball, or other small item, and move it down the line to mark their number of goals.

Classic Foosball Elements | Even while departing from traditional table design to achieve this remarkable indoor-outdoor versatility, the team wanted to stay true to the game, too. So, Cook incorporated a hallmark foosball feature–Tornado-brand foosball players in heavy-duty plastic, mounted on stainless steel, rust-proof rods. Tornado is the leading manufacturer of regulation, tournament-style foosball tables and makes the official table of the International Table Soccer Federation. QCP is proud to offer Tornado’s elite parts with their innovative foosball table.

Timeless Design Inspired by the World’s Greatest Stadiums

For the appearance of the table, designer Cook drew on 25 years of experience in product design to guide him. The table’s sculptural, organic curves result from Cook’s own design process– he starts with handcrafted 3D models–and are inspired by his favorite era of furniture design, Mid-century Modern. He created the QCP Foosball Table to be a sleek, heirloom piece that will fit seamlessly in a sophisticated home and never go out of style.

Cook’s design also invokes the most famous football and soccer stadiums in the world, like Wembley Stadium in London, to inspire the competitive spirit and create a sense of occasion for each foosball match.

Cook credited the collaborative QCP team with bringing his designs to life. QCP engineers led by Randy Sharp use cutting-edge 3D technology to capture Cook’s designs digitally and create a casting mold. QCP’s production team hand-pours each individual foosball table in high-strength, steel reinforced concrete.

Because each order is individually poured, QCP can offer its foosball table in all standard colors, with either a Honed or Craftsman's Etch exterior finish. Every QCP Foosball Table is a bespoke piece, custom-made and handcrafted for the client.

Spaces that Bring People Together

QCP Corp is a family-owned and -operated company that has been on the leading edge of concrete products and design since 1976. Building on over 50 years’ experience, the company now aims to elevate what can be done with concrete, says Crook. “We create products for anywhere that people gather, to create spaces that bring people together.”

With the QCP Foosball Table, Crook imagines people coming together to play a game in a community rec center, at a Silicon Valley office space, or in a family’s great room. Cook echoed this sentiment, saying he designed the table for one purpose above all others: “I want people to enjoy it together.”

After launching at the ASLA Expo, the QCP Foosball Table is now touring the country, traveling by trailer for demos at QCP partners all over the Western and Southwestern US.
